Tour Selection |
To help you select your tour here is a brief explanation of the differences between the two main regions we visit, Auckland's West Coast and the East Coasts Matakana.
|
|
This is where NZ's wine industry was founded by pioneering settlers from the Mediterranean coast of Croatia over 100 years ago. It is an area steeped in local wine history and features many heritage wineries. Wineries in this region source grapes from their own vineyards in the West Auckland area as well as New Zealand's other grape growing regions. This means they have a wide range
of different types of grapes growing in optimum conditions
(soil types and climates) from which they produce a wide variety
of wine types, this is what we call the "New
Zealand wide wine tasting experience". There is
also a wide selection of large long established wineries and
small to medium sized boutique wineries. With the most experienced
wine tour guide we customise your tour to your tastes and interests.

Matakana, North East of Auckland, is New Zealand's newest
and smallest wine area. The wineries of Matakana are all small,
'boutique', producers growing a wide selection of grapes on
their own local
'estate' vineyards including NZ's only Carmenere and only winery
making exclusively Sangiovese & Dolcetto there is also Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Voignier, Syrah (Shiraz), Cab' Sav', Merlot, Malbec, Cab'
Franc, Pinotage & Pinot Noir. Pacific Ocean views,
beautiful countryside plus the option of a range of interesting
side trips feature along the way.
